We're entering a pretty incredible era.

The tools we build with are changing faster than ever. Things that used to take hours of research, iteration, or careful setup can now happen in minutes. It's exciting to think about how much more room this creates for creativity, exploration, and building things that were previously out of reach.

At the same time, I've found myself appreciating experiences that can't be accelerated.

The value of the journey
Some things are worth doing at human speed.

After finishing our section of the Pacific Crest Trail, my friend and I celebrated at the end of the trail with a couple of Moscow Mules. Nothing complicated—just a small moment to recognize where we had been and enjoy the transition from dusty boots to a comfortable seat.

The trail was a good reminder that progress doesn't always need to be optimized. Some of the best parts came from the slower moments: conversations between miles, unexpected views, and the little details you only notice when you're fully present.

I think that's what excites me most about where technology is heading. As our tools become better at handling the mechanical parts of creating, it gives us more opportunity to focus on the parts that require perspective—asking better questions, understanding people, and noticing the details that make an experience feel right.

Whether it's a trail, a product, or anything else we create, the best outcomes still come from paying attention.

Sometimes the long way around is where you find the things worth bringing back.
